• Create an emergency kit: Assemble a supply kit that includes essential items such as non-perishable food, water, flashlight, batteries, first aid supplies, medications, cash, important documents, and a portable phone charger.

• Secure your home: Trim trees and secure loose outdoor items that could become projectiles in high winds. Consider installing storm shutters or boarding up windows. Reinforce garage doors and secure roof shingles if needed.

• Evacuation plan: Know your evacuation zone and plan your evacuation route in advance. Identify shelters or safe locations if you need to evacuate.

• Communication plan: Establish a communication plan with your family or friends, including a designated meeting place in case you get separated.

• Protect important documents: Keep important documents like identification, insurance policies, and medical records in a waterproof and portable container.
